This is a freelance, independent contractor position.

In this role you will be verifying the addresses of the business on google map on four parameters. Name of Business, Its Pin position on map, Address and its relevance to query. Relevance is like a Needs Met rating Internet Assessor Role. You will be judging how useful that result is on the basis of user needs, number of other options available nearby and distance from the user. For this role you will be receiving a guideline pdf of over 200 pages. These guidelines are not made available publically by Google. Similar to Internet Assessor you will get 7 days to clear the exam.

Part 1 of the exam is similar to Internet Assessor role. For more details visit the post How I Passed Internet Assessor Exam. Key for the success is to really understanding the guidelines. Reading it one time is not sufficient. You need to read it at least twice. This exam is conducted in two parts only.

Part 1 is theoretical and having 7 sections i.e. you can give exam in 7 in sitting. And each section is having 1 Hour to complete. Each section is having 5 Question and 4 probable statements and you need to mark them as true or false. So 20 statements to answer in each section and last section is having only 3 questions. In this way there are in all 33 questions and 4 statements to each question so you need to answer total 132 statements. I recommend to complete it in single sitting, if you have read guidelines thoroughly. One can easily complete each section within half an hour. But remember people do fail in Part 1 also though Part 1 is easiest part in the exam. The questions are twisted read the question and statements twice keep the guidelines open. The questions are directly from the guidelines. You can copy the statement and find the relevant term in the guideline. Even if you are sure I recommend crosscheck each statement in guideline before answering.

Part 2 is a real challenge to complete. Unlike Internet Assessor role here you will get more useful exam support portal. On exam support portal there are lot of examples provided. Try to solve as many tasks as possible. When you will get confident then only go for part 2.

Remember here your answer will be either true or false and you need to mark it correct on all four parameters i.e. Relevance, Name of Business, Pin and Address. In Part 2 you will get 9 to 12 tasks in each task you will be getting 2 to 5 result to evaluate. After each task you can take the break. Most importantly here is no time limit. You can take as much time as possible. Simultaneously keep the guideline or exam support platform open to check the similar examples.

Compare to Internet Assessor role exam is easy to pass. But Internet Assessor role is easy to work on while in Map Analyst actual work can be monotonous. In Map Analyst while working quality is monitored very strictly. First 15 days of your work are very important and you will be given the examples which are already evaluated. It is like a blind test. Consider that you are giving the exam for first 15 days otherwise if you fail to maintain quality of 80% you will be terminated. Many peoples have been terminated in first week itself. Secondly if you are not from USA you will be getting country specific guidelines after clearing the exam. Go through these very thoroughly as in exam and in practise you are evaluating US market. Country specific markets are lot different. Method of writing the address varies from county country. Many of the raters get terminated in first week of contract because of this reason.

Which Website/ Company to Choose?

Internet Assessor and Map Analyst Role is available with Lionbridge and Appen Connect. Ads Assessor role is provided by Lionbridge, Appen Connect and Teemwork.AI. Lionbridge pays more generously as compare two other companies. Pay rate varies across the regions. European Countries are paid more followed by USA and Asia/ Africa.

Lionbridge

Lionbridge recently collaborated with Telus International. Based in Ireland is having its corporate office in USA. 20+ years old Lionbridge is one of the best crowdsourcing platforms which help brands building deeper relationship with their customers with the help of its over 1 million crowd workers. Lionbridge is 100% legitimate website which has paid a lot of money to remote workers all around the world and was recognized as best large employers by Forbes in 2019. The company operates in more than 75 countries and works for several prestigious companies including Google. Flexjobs has awarded Lionbridge as #1 Company in 2021 for remote jobs. There are uncountable positive reviews about Lionbridge on internet. The company has been around for a long time and provides real jobs.

At any point of tine you can work on single role for the Lionbridge. And you cannot work for similar position for another company. My first preference will be to Lionbridge when long term reliable and highly paying remote job is concerned.

Appen Connect

In Appen Connect this position is available as a Project Shasta. Appen is definitely a legitimate crowdsourcing company established in 1996 in Australia. It has more than 1 million registered independent contractors/workers from all around the world. It works for prestigious clients like Google, Microsoft, amazon, IBM etc. Appen with an experience of 20+ years is working in 75+ countries.

The beauty of Appen is the variety of tasks it offers. Do you have iphone and can take great photos? You will get a lot of projects. Are you good at web research? Appen really needs you. You can write down what a person in an audio file is saying, you will get a project on transcription Appen have many exciting work from home jobs ranging from doing a simple survey to complex projects only very few people can do.

Here is how you can you start with Appen

Log into your Appen(connect) account. Click on All projects from main menu. You have an option to see projects you are qualified for, or you are not qualified for or all projects. You can get a list of project according to skills you possess by choosing a type of project from top right drop down menu like if you are good at web research then you can select web research and click Go. Apart from it, every project listing will have all the important details mentioned along with like hourly rate, goal of the project, no. of tasks available, hours you need to work in a week, instructions how to complete the project, what is expected from you, qualification contributor needs etc. Accuracy matters a lot on every micro-jobs platform so make sure you only choose projects you are capable of completing.

Some projects can be started right away without passing a qualification test but then there will be many projects you will need to qualify to get it assigned to you. Once you have chosen a suitable project that matches your skills, click on green button that says Qualify. You will be redirected to project description page or qualification exam they ask some questions to make sure you are the right candidate for project.

Apply for as many as projects you can think you can successfully compete to increase your chance of getting selected for a project. By clicking on the active processes on the top of the page, you can check status of all your applications.

Good thing is you can simultaneously work for more than one project. However as like Lionbridge here also you cannot work for similar project for another company. That is to say you cannot work as Internet Assessor for Lionbridge and Appen simultaneously. Bur you can work as Internet Assessor for Lionbridge and Ads Assessor for Appen simultaneously. Or you can work on Internet Assessor, Ads Assessor or any other project of from Appen simultaneously.

Important thing here is Appen Don’t term the roles as Internet Assessor, Maps Analyst or Ads Assessor. Instead they have named the project like Project Yukon for Internet Assessor, Project Shasta for Maps Analyst, Project Arrow for Google Ads Assessor and Project Nile for Facebook Ads Evaluation.  Appen is real slow in processing your application. Sometimes it takes months to proceed your application further.

Pay rate for Appen is less as compared to Lionbridge so it should be your second preference.

What I advise is to apply for all and depends on the response proceed further. Though all the companies/websites allow maximum 20 hours of work per week. But there are times when work is not available and you will not get full quota of work. Or sometimes even minimum hours of work is also not available. But sometimes you will get extra hour of work and you can work for 25 or 30 hours per week. It is such nature of work that you cannot guarantee that work will be always available.

That’s why it is important to have multiple roles from multiple companies and simultaneously to do some micro jobs like UHRS in your free time. More on UHRS in next chapter.
